What brings me hope in this world is the children. With children comes laughter, energy, kindness, creativity, unconditional love, a desire to learn. Classes have been dismissed. Yet we all continue to learn from our homes. Sing, read-aloud, play games in the yard, cook, paint, play cards, visit a virtual museum, dance, write letters, write poems, color, build a fort, make puppets, have a tea party, make lemonade, have a hug 'o war.
Governor Gary R. Herbert, State Superintendent Syd Dickson, and the Utah State Board of Education “announced that Utah’s K-12 public schools will extend their dismissal [soft closure] through Friday, May 1st.” Their press release further stated that they will “continue to evaluate the situation to make a determination about the remaining school year” and that:
Gov. Herbert expressed his appreciation to the educators throughout our state who have quickly adapted their instruction to remote learning platforms.
