Principal Moment

November is a great month.  Chilly mornings give way to beautiful afternoons and holiday celebrations turn our minds towards gratitude and love.

This year has impressed on me how much we have to be grateful for at Riverview.  Each classroom is full of students working hard and committed to learning.  Our teachers have put in countless hours to create rich learning environments for all our students.  The support staff has cheerfully stepped into new roles this year as we all work together to meet the varied and unique needs of our school this year.  The office staff and custodial teams work tirelessly to make our school a safe and inviting place to be.  Our instructional coaches and teachers are teaming closely to identify students’ specific needs and carry out interventions.  And now, more than ever, supportive parents and an engaged PTA have been critical to the success of our students.

Buoyed up by these herculean combined efforts, our students are learning.  We have every reason to be optimistic about this school year.

Cold Weather

All children will be expected to go outside for recess except in extreme weather conditions.  If the temperature falls below 20, students will remain indoors.

Please send your student to school with appropriate clothing.  Also, we ask that you label your student’s name on the inside of all coats and jackets.

WHY JOIN THE PTA?

We need you!!  Becoming a member of the PTA shows that you want to help support the programs and events that help enhance students’ experiences at Riverview.  It doesn’t obligate you to attend the PTA meeting or volunteer.  While we would love for everyone to attend, we understand families are busy during the school year and have other important commitments.   Membership is $7.00.  We only have thirty-seven (37) families who have joined the PTA this year.

WHAT DOES THE PTA DO?

  • Provided each student with a water bottle
  • Reflection contest
  • Red/Green Ribbon Week
  • White Ribbon Week
  • Spirit Days
  • Book Fairs
  • Classroom Help
  • Yearbook
  • SEP dinners for the teachers
  • Popcorn Friday (paused for this year)

Theme for Food/Clothing Drive; One Can, Two Can, Who Can, You Can! – November 9th – December 11th

Riverview student council is pleased to announce the 12th annual Food and Clothing Drive.  The donated food and clothing will be given to families in our school and the Nebo Pantry.

The Nebo Pantry is for homeless and transient students in our district.  The district has over 1,500 students in this situation.  The Nebo Pantry is in extreme need of boys and girl’s underwear, socks, gloves, hats and coats in all children sizes.

Each can of food donated is worth 1 point.  Clothing is worth 5 points. The class per grade level that collects the most cans and bonus points will receive a root beer float party.

Veteran’s Day – November 11th

Veteran’s Day is an opportunity to honor and give thanks to those who have served or are serving in our military.  This day can sometimes go unnoticed because it is between the excitement of Halloween and Thanksgiving.

On behalf of Riverview, I would like to thank all Veterans today and every day for your service to our country.
