Principal Moment

Back from Christmas Break; as I have been popping into the classrooms many students’ have been writing their New Year’s resolutions.  New Year’s what?  It turns out that the term ‘New Year Resolution’ is a bit of a head-scratcher for some kids.  “What is that?” said one bewildered little guy.

When asked more simply about their goals for the New Year, the kids gave thoughtful-and adorable-answers.  “I can get more 100’s on my tests,” “Try and be a little nicer to my sister,” “More money is a good goal,” and “Get more better at listening.”

SEP Conferences

SEP Conferences will be held Thursday, January 10th from 3:15-8:45 PM.  You will be getting an email this week from SignUpGenius.  This email will allow you to visit the website, find your child’s teacher(s), and sign-up for the time that is most convenient to your individual schedule.  Parents, if you find a need to change your appointment the day of conferences, please contact the teacher so he/she is aware of the change.

There will be no school for students on Friday, January 11th. Thank you.

After School Clubs

Riverview Afterschool program is excited to announce the Winter/Spring 2019 program.  Registration was made available this morning, Thursday Jan. 3, at 8:00 a.m. www.riverview.edu under parents tab and click SIGN UP GENUIS.  All information including schedules, club descriptions, registration forms, and waivers will be on the website.  Every student participating must fill out a registration form and waiver.

Fees for Riverview Afterschool will be $20 per club.  Students may sign up for as many clubs as they would like.  Fees will be paid in the office cash or check only. Students will receive healthy snacks, prevention lessons, physical activities including movement games, and one hour of instruction and activities during club time. If you would like to make payment arrangements or have any questions please contact RaeAnn Nelson at raeann.nelson [at] nebo.edu (raeann[dot]nelson[at]nebo[dot]edu).

For the past nine years Riverview has received federal funding. This year the only schools who received funding were Title One schools.  Currently, Riverview does not qualify for any funding. Riverview has the largest Afterschool program in the state of Utah. WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT, we want to continue this great program.

An early morning club will be available every day at no charge from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. School doors will be unlocked at 8:00 a.m. for morning club only. This is a club for students who would like extra homework or reading help.  It is also available for parents who need to leave early for work and want a safe place for their students to be before school begins.  Mr. Teuscher a certified teacher, will provide the morning club instruction.  You must register your student for this club on the website.

Afterschool Session 3 will begin on Jan 7th and go through Feb. 22nd.  No clubs will be held on Jan. 11, 21, or Feb 18th.  Monday clubs will be held 2:15-3:45, Tue.-Fri. clubs will be held 3:00-4:30.

Food Drive-Cans for Kids

Mrs. RaeAnn Nelson; Riverview’s music teacher and afterschool coordinator is the head of our food drive.  She shared with the faculty: “When I delivered the overabundance of food, clothing, and money...I want you to know I witnessed charity at its finest.  Our school has impressed me and others so much.  Thank you for your willingness to gather these donations, the pantry is filled to overflowing, the young mothers program has needed diapers for the babies, Park School had an amazing parent shopping event, three families in our area received needed clothing and food, Tabitha's Way took all the remainder.   My heart has been so touched when I have witnessed the love from your giving and service.  Thanks again for making this season magical  by sharing with others and loving your fellowman”.  Thank you!

Cold Weather

Cold weather is upon us.  Please, please don’t allow your child to come to school on a winter day dressed for spring/fall recess.  A jacket is not enough protection for a child to stay warm.  Please send your child to school with proper winter clothing (coats, hats, gloves, and boots).
