Principal Moment

Every year I forget what it’s like to start a school year all over again.  The first day of school comes, and BAM!

Today was a good day as far as first days of school go.   We didn’t have anyone walk home after morning recess.  We didn’t have anyone cry; not even the teachers.  It was a great day!

Kindergarten students will begin on Monday, August 26th.  This is a Monday.  Early Out Day or Collaboration Day is held each Monday district-wide.  All students will be dismissed 45 minutes early from school on Mondays. The kindergarten schedule for Mondays will be:

  • AM session – 8:45 am – 11:00 am
  • PM session – 12:00 pm – 2:15 pm

Thank you for the wonderful support at our Open House!  We had a great turnout and it sure helped eliminate our normal first day hustle and bustle.  It is going to be a great year!

School Community Council

Would you like to serve on Riverview Elementary 2019-2020 School Community Council (SCC)?  The SCC serves as an advisory council to the school administration.  The SCC consists of parents, employees and the principal.  They meet monthly for one hour and addresses issues that include Trust Lands Planning, Building Needs Assessments, School Improvement Plans, Character Education Plans, Staff Development Plans, etc.  If you are interested in running in the election, please come to the office and fill out a sheet and return to the main office by August 30, 2019.  A ballot will then be sent home for you to cast your vote.  The election will run September 3rd-6th.

Riverview PTA

I would like encourage all become a member of the Riverview PTA organization. PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association, a school-based organization with the mission to make the school a better place for children to learn.  Parents of students work together with teachers to volunteer in classes, raise money for school needs (a digital marquee), and generally support the school’s efforts.

Cost of becoming a member of the PTA is $6.

Safety in the Parking Lots

Riverview is the largest elementary is the district.  We have 918 students in grades Pre-6th grades.  Our parking lots are the only place where drivers and students share the same area of the roadway.

Drivers parking in the lot at the west of the Kindergarten playground tend to focus their attention on looking for a parking spot, rather than looking at the newly painted arrows indicating the lot entrance and exit.  Please be aware of the flow of traffic and enter and exit the Kindergarten lot as indicated by the arrows painted on the asphalt.

Thank you.
