School Dismissal Due to COVID-19

My Dear Riverview Community,

As you might be aware the Governor has just announced a dismissal for schools for the next two weeks.  We'll be sending information and protocols to you as we move forward.  But at this point we will not be holding regular school and classes starting Monday, March 16th.    All school events for this next week such as Parent Conferences, Field Trips, After-School Clubs, Jungle Book Practice is canceled until further notice (we'll communicate changes as they become available).   The district was preparing for our schools to provide instruction through an online distance learning tool (instructions and steps to access this will be forthcoming) and hard copy learning packets.  Learning and instruction will continue over these next two weeks.

Breakfast and lunch will be made available beginning on Monday.  These meals will be served as a 'grab & go' meal.  Breakfast will be served from 8:00-9:00 am, lunch from 11:00-12:00 pm.  If you would like to have the meals provided to your student, call the school kitchen and alert them to how many meals will need to be prepared.

In preparation for the next two weeks, please evaluate your need at home for devices to access the online learning for all of your students.   We will have chrome books available at Riverview for you to checkout over the duration of the closure (we'll let you know how and when to pick up any needed devices).

For those with limited or no internet at home we’ll be providing learning packets that can be picked up here at the school.  There is a possibility to use mobile hot spots for Internet (more to be forth coming).

As far as looking at the start of the week our timeline would be for Monday and Tuesday our teachers and staff to prepare, plan, prepare, organize and communicate out to our families and gather and send out needed information.   We will look for a launch date of Wednesday to begin providing classes/learning through our distance learning tool and packets.

Thank you for your support and understanding through these unprecedented times.  I'm confident in the abilities and talents of our Riverview staff and we will do all we can to teach and serve our students.   I also recognize the challenges and hardships this brings for our community and families.   It is my hope that we can reach out, look to serve, and help one another.  I believe that this can bring us closer as a Riverview Community and family.   Have a good weekend.   It's good to be a Riverview Ram.

Love to All,
Mrs. Killian, Principal Riverview Elementary
