The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Ms. Bristi Poulson as the Principal of Riverview Elementary for Nebo School District.
Ms. Poulson received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and her master’s degree in Curriculum Design and Instruction with an emphasis in Educational Technology both from Utah Valley University. She also earned an Educational Administration License from Southern Utah University.
Bristi was honored with the Crystal Apple Award at Park Elementary in 2020.
When asked about her educational philosophy, Bristi stated, “I have always enjoyed the time I have spent in schools teaching students, watching them feel empowered to succeed, and celebrating their successes. We need to monitor and adapt teaching to the individual needs of learners. I will seek to foster positive and appropriate behavior of students, productive and constructive collaboration of students and faculty, and the shared cooperation of all to provide a safe and welcoming school environment for all students, teachers, staff, and parents.”
A colleague said, “Bristi is a leader of learning for both staff and students. She has a deep understanding of the curriculum, a strong knowledge of instructional practice, and practical experience in leading the work of a professional learning community. She has an eye for improving processes, increasing accountability, and thinking outside the box. She has high expectations but provides a high level of support to lead staff towards improved practice.”
“Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from the best. From the beginning, I have had administrators that believed in me and pushed me to follow my dreams. I believe that educators change the world, and we can do that by reaching for the stars and dreaming big,” stated Bristi, to the Nebo Board of Education. “I am honored, humbled, and excited to be appointed as the Principal of Riverview Elementary and look forward to serving the students, parents, teachers, and community of Riverview. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!”
One of Bristi’s favorite quotes is from Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” From this motto, I have chosen to live and ‘Dream Big!’”
Bristi enjoys reading, crafting, camping, and being an aunt. She loves walking up Hobble Creek Canyon with her Golden Retriever, Wilson.
