Submitted by alyssa.mathis on

Riverview students had a Western Dress Day to celebrate the March Reading Champion Challenge Winners.  Congratulations to the seven winners!  Each winner received two tickets to the rodeo.  Two students were chosen as the grand prize winners and received a pair of boots.  Students and teachers participated in a rodeo relay where they had to lasso a cow, barrel race, and ride a horse.  It was a wonderful western day!

Riverview fourth graders held their annual county fair.  Students selected a Utah county to learn about and present a report on.  Students learned about the physical features, climate, recreation, history, and how their county was named.  Riverview students were able to attend the fourth grade county fair and learn about the Utah counties.  Great work fourth graders!

Celebrating Arbor Day

Submitted by alyssa.mathis on

First grade and third grade classes celebrated Arbor Day at Spanish Trails Boulevard Retention Basin.  Students participated in a program by showing their Earth Day artwork, singing, reading a reader’s theater, reading essays about the earth, and planting trees.  Students were able to meet Smokey Bear.  Smokey Bear reminded students to be careful with fires, never play with matches or lighters, always watch campfires, and always put campfires completely out.  Thank you students for a wonderful program!

Camp Floyd Adventures

Submitted by alyssa.mathis on

Riverview 4th graders had tons of fun at Camp Floyd.  They were able to go inside an old fashioned school house and be treated like a student in the pioneer times.  They were able to go to a museum and learn about the history of how Camp Floyd came to be.  They were able to explore an old home transformed into a hotel for soldiers and people passing through.  They made candles, built adobe brick, and participated in a military drill.  It was tons of fun.  Thanks to the parents that volunteered in making all the activities there possible.
